And He (God) gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. EPHESIANS 4:11-16
The Apostle Paul's Biblical letter to the Ephesian church teaches that pastors are a "gift" to God's people. Our pastor strives to live up to this description. A primary responsibility prayerfully and thoughtfully discharged is that of teaching and preaching the word of God. A balanced diet of inspiration and instruction is so important. In addition, the pastoral staff assists the family in more personal ways such as: baptisms, child dedications, hospital and home-bound visitation, counseling, weddings, funerals, etc. Pastor Charles has been ministering in Dallas since April, 2002.
Biographical Sketch
Rev Charles Curtiss; (Pastor, Evangelist, Teacher) has operated in the prophetic and ministered "with signs following" for more than 30 years, having been born and raised in the Pentecostal movement. He was called to preach at the age of eight, has ministered within the Assemblies of God, pastored in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN), and has been engaged in independent, non-denominational ministry since 1987. Pastor Curtiss operates in the prophetic and is very straight forward in his demeanor. His ministry is no-nonsense, signs following, and substantive. He believes a man of God must have convictions, preaching what he knows and knowing what he preaches, without compromise. He does not dilute the message of God's Word simply to facilitate church growth at the cost of substance and truth.
Pastor Curtiss began his ministry as a young man in the Assemblies of God, working as a children's evangelist and Children's Church director from the age of twelve until he was 16. At age sixteen, he began receiving invitations to preach evangelistically, so his ministry turned to adult evangelism. He has ministered as an evangelist all over the United States in churches of virtually every Spirit-filled denomination and type. By the age of 18, he started his first church (Church of God, Cleveland, TN). He writes extensively and has published dozens of articles and Bible studies which have been widely received and applauded by his ministry peers. He has produced several radio programs over the years and looks forward to once again doing so at some near future date.
Pastor Curtiss has been engaged in "Affirming" ministry which celebrates diversity and welcomes all members of the human family without prejudice, judgment, or criticism since 1993. He personally knows the pain and anguish of wrestling with deep personal issues while surrounded by people and churches that do not even wish to begin to understand. Growing up in the Assemblies of God he experienced years of depression, hopelessness, and bottomless despair which culminated in his leaving the church behind in 1989. Following a four year absence from the church and with great effort, careful biblical research and prayer, he was finally able to reconcile these issues and come to a full revelation of the love and grace of God. No matter who you are or where you come from, you will find only a warm and sincere welcome, as well as genuine love and support from this pastor. He preaches and believes that GLBT people are understood and accepted by God, without conditions or prerequisites. He does not minister exclusively to members of the GLBT community, but welcomes all sincere seekers of truth who desire to be enlightened regarding many important matters often misrepresented in the "mainstream" church world, not the least of which being human sexuality. God's church is ONE church, so we seek only to be an inclusive and affirming church that seeks to build up, restore, and reconcile ALL who seek the safety and comfort of God's sanctuary.
Our pastor is a gifted and anointed preacher with an equally as enlightening and inspiring teaching gift. You will be blessed and grow greatly in the knowledge of our God as you are exposed to this man's unique and God-ordained ministry. He is the author of a ministry website dedicated specifically to the doctrines and teachings of the Apostolic/Pentecostal faith called "The Way of Truth."
Evangelistic Ministry
Pastor Curtiss writes extensively and ministers evangelistically when invited to do so. Bro Curtiss declares "Thus saith the Lord..." and challenges the church today to break free from the bondage and confines of tradition, convention, and conformity in order to embrace fully, without compromise, all that God's Word holds for His people in these last days! He ministers in both Word and in song.
Brother Curtiss goes wherever he is invited, regardless of denominational affiliations or lack thereof. He has ministered in various fellowships ranging from UPC, PAW, ALJC, A/G, Church of God (Cleveland, TN), COGIC, AME, Methodist, Baptist, Charismatic, Full Gospel, Non-denominational, Holiness, Free Churches, etc. Much of his ministry has been within the Black and Hispanic communities, so he is very comfortable preaching in any venue and any environment where God's people are hungry for truth. He is also happy to minister with an interpreter when necessary.
This man has been in ministry a very long time and believes that God only calls a man to minister in a church in the most constructive and positive manner. He respects each congregation's individuality and belief structure, while ministering a powerful and prophetic word from the Lord. His many years of pastoral work have uniquely prepared him to evangelize with a pastoral perspective and a shepherd's heart.
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Romans 14:12-14
